Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for residents, families, and partners.

We will keep this page updated as opening details are finalized.

Is What’s Next Living open now?

Not yet. Opening preparations are underway. We are completing operational, safety, policy, and registration steps before accepting move-ins.

Is this a treatment facility?

No. What’s Next Living is developing structured, nonclinical recovery housing. Residents may receive treatment and healthcare from outside licensed providers.

Who will the program serve?

The planned program is for adults committed to maintaining a substance-free lifestyle who can live independently in a shared home and follow house expectations. What’s Next Living plans separate residences for men and women, with placement based on program fit and availability.

What will the house rules include?

Planned expectations include sobriety, random drug and alcohol testing, curfew, chores, respect for housemates, participation in house routines, and accountability.

Will prescribed medication be allowed?

Prescribed medication, including medication for opioid use disorder, will be addressed under written medication and safety policies. Clinical decisions remain with residents and their licensed providers.

What will it cost?

Resident fees and accepted funding arrangements are still being finalized. We will publish confirmed information before admissions begin.

Can organizations refer people from outside Milwaukee?

Yes. We are developing statewide referral relationships, while the initial properties are in Milwaukee.
